Learn about us at Teaching Reading FundamentalsWhy was Teaching Reading FUNdamentals created? About Us: While I am not a teacher by profession, I am a teacher at heart. I particularly got interested in childhood education after volunteering for a reading tutoring program at a local elementary school several years ago. I teach struggling readers placed in the program by their teachers or parents. This has been such a wonderful experience for me, as I get to see the results of my efforts and how it positively impacts the kids. Not only have I seen their test scores increase significantly, but I've watched them go from reluctant struggling readers to actually enjoying reading - That's a great feeling! I truly believe that giving children the right learning tools and attention early on makes a remarkable difference in their lives. Early learning success gives them the self confidence necessary to achieve later successes both at school and in life. Unfortunately I’ve seen what happens to children who weren’t given the tools to learn to read early enough.
